This is a lesson for advanced mandolin players on how to play the Scottish tune 'Atholl Highlanders'. What's really interesting about this tune - and a challenge for us mandolin players - is that it can be played as a jig or as a march. Fiddle players in sessions are likely to play it as a jig, but bagpipes and marching bands play it as a march. We'll learn both ways in this lesson and discuss the theory and techniques that separate the two versions.
